چکیده
Abstract Ceramic bricks are among the most used building material throughout human history for their excellent technical properties, abundance of raw materials and easy production. Huge quantity brick waste is generated from demolition works at end-of-life stage buildings. Several scenarios within management hierarchy can be considered: a) preparing reuse into masonry units similar purposes; b) mechanical recycling (crushing, screening) to crushed stone various applications -in backfilling, pavement, drainage works, which examples down-cycling or as concrete aggregate a component in blended binders upcycling; c) disposal inert landfills separation layer municipal landfills. This study performs life cycle assessment (LCA) these three possible routes ceramic takes account relevant processes. The LCA results calculated compulsory environmental indicators according methodology EN 15804 along with additional assessing toxicity. outcome confirms that environmentally beneficial scenario it requires minimal activities preparing. Technical feasibility issues costs impact, associated also analysed. conclusion an optimised sustainable approach shall applied order boost circularity construction sector.
